Episode® 700 Series Home Theater In-Ceiling LCR Speaker (Each)
Designed to meet the demands of critical listeners, the ES-700 is equally capable as a music or home theater speaker. Even at low volume levels, you'll appreciate the clarity and detail that these speakers produce...and when you turn them up, you'll enjoy a wide, natural soundstage and exceptionally dynamic sound.
NCS (Natural Cell Structure) Woofer Material
We've combined the strength of Kevlar™ with the natural damping qualities of paper in a unique woofer material. A multi-step drying process during manufacturing enables these drivers to retain a natural, open cell structure that results in well-damped, neutral acoustic characteristics. This speaker features an 5-1/4 in. version of this driver, further enhancing low-frequency performance.
Catenary Dome Tweeter
Most dome tweeters are spherical...so why isn't the tweeter in the ES-700? The oblong (catenary curve) shape of this tweeter produces more off-axis acoustic energy. The translation: a wider, more engaging soundstage with an open, forward sound.
Integrated Sealed Backbox
No two walls are quite the same. They are different shapes and sizes, some have insulation, and they may be built from different materials. That s why our engineers designed a sealed enclosure made from rigid 3/4" MDF. Sure, this costs more than typical "infinite baffle" (or open-backed) designs, but the rewards present themselves in more predictable performance – meaning that both you and your customers will enjoy that same Episode® quality, time and time again.
Room Compensation Switches (Tweeter and Woofer)
In multi-room audio installations, no two rooms are alike. Floor coverings, drapes, windows and furniture all impact how a speaker sounds in a room. With the ES-700, you can quickly adjust the tweeter's output by 3db to compensate for rooms with more or less sound absorbing materials. The same adjustment can be made to the woofer to compensate for installations near walls and corners that might otherwise cause a speaker to sound "boomy".
Fully Aimed Speaker
Directs the sound "into" the room. The tweeter and woofer baffle is angled 35 degrees from the ceiling to cover the listening area in the low and mid frequencies. As higher frequencies have less dispersion the tweeter pivots 17 degrees in all directions to point it towards the listening area. Perfect for in-ceiling home theater LCR installations. Can also be used for rear surround speakers placed far behind the listening area.
Installation Ease
Quick snug dogs, gold-plated push button wire terminations, easy magnet held rust-proof aluminum grill and cutout template all make this the standard for installation ease.
**This Episode speaker includes cardboard cutout templates, paint shields, and installation instructions.

Frequency response The frequency response curve shows the Sound Pressure Level (SPL) at a 1 meter (3.28 feet) distance from the speaker at all frequencies (Freq) in the audible range 20 HZ - 20,000 Hz (20K). It is an indication of how evenly the speaker reproduces the sound from the lowest bass to the highest treble. |
